I could say you heard it here first, but that would be self-inflating on the level of, well, Al himself, but Joe Klein is creating more Gore buzz in Time today. Of course Klein's equivocating. That's his job. As is calling McCain a "flagrantly flawed" candidate. (Compared to Hillary and Obama?) Nevertheless, Gore is beginning to look more and more like a potential Democratic nominee. Another month or so they may be begging for him to run.

clever boy, that Klein. If you want to make Hillbama look better, how else but to mention Al Gore, who lately looks like Peter Lorre on a Barry Bonds regimen.
Al Gore will not save the Democratic Party. If nothing else, many black voters will still believe that "Barry" Obama got stabbed in the back. They won't perceive Gore as some sort of compromise---but part of the conspiracy against their guy. Once again, it behooves me to remind people of this indisputable fact: the Democrats must get their normal ninety percent of the black vote to win on Election Day. Even a relatively small drop would spell disaster.
I believe Gore had his chance and would have easily beat either Hillary or Obama back at the start but now... Now I wouldn't be surprised if folks attack Klein for the insinuation that only a white man can win.

NOw if he's sign up as the VP the could save money and confuse people by reusing Clinton/Gore bumperstickers.
The irony of giving Gore the nomination would be that it would piss off two major Democrat identity groups. From what I've read, many blacks will be upset if Hillary gets the nomination because they see one of their own getting pushed aside by a white woman. At the same time, I've read that some of the feminists supporting Hillary are mad because they think a "qualified woman" (in their opinion, not mine) is being pushed aside by a man.
Gore is a white man. He would piss off both groups to the point their heads would explode. That alone would be worth the price of the popcorn.
That said, one of the Democrats biggest problems is their hell bent tendency to look backward for solutions. The Clintons counted on exactly this tendency when Hillary Clinton began her campaign: she was absolutely convinced she was a lock for the nomination because she knew dutiful Democrats would fondly recall the 1990's and just assume all we needed to do was elect another Clinton and voila - it's the 90's again (well...maybe not everything about the 90's - just the good stuff).
I love nostalgia as much as the next person, but what evidence is there that Gore could do better if given another shot?
On the other hand, an Obama/Gore ticket has always interested me. Gore brings executive experience, foreign policy chops and is the world's leader on climate change issues. Obama/Gore.....now that is interesting.

Remember the charter moths ago among some republicans saying that they would rather vote for Hillary if McCain was their nominee?
We now we have Hillary supporters saying they rather vote for McCain if Obama is their nominee.
Whitey seems determined to keep the black man down ;)
Now before you go denouncing, condemning and distancing - Obama did say we needed to talk about race – so today I'am, you might say, following his advice ;)
Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John McCain, Al Gore, Michael Dukakis, Jimmy Carter, Bob Dole, John Kerry, Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul, Patrick Buchanan.
Jesus! 300 million possibilities and this is what the country comes up with for choices? No wonder George Bush was elected. It couldn't get any worse. Oh wait. I forgot about Joe Biden, Chuck Hagel, Chris Dodd, Dennis Kucinich, Gary Hart, Teddy Kennedy.
Every four years we spend millions of dollars, plague the populace with more than 12 months of lies, deceits, and complete BS and then succeed in presenting what must be close to the worst possible options to suffer under for the next four years. Amazing. A wonderful thing democracy, now if we could only figure out a way to inject some degree of intelligence into the process.......
I'm fantasizing: Gore declares his eligibility for the 2008 Dem nomination - he attracts a small block of super delegates, not a large number, but large enough to prevent either H. Rodham C. or B. Hussein O. to prevail on the first ballot - or the second - or the third - or the fourth....
I'm thinking 1924 here, people - I'm thinking Alabama casts 24 votes for Oscar W. Underwood - I'm thinking a deadlocked convention that takes two weeks and 103 ballots to select a fatally ineffectual John W. Davis.

A major party convention stalemate in the 21st century? Yes we can!!
Does that mean that Michael Bloomberg's Bloomlet is over before it go started? Sen. Gore will not be a serious candidate until he starts looking like a pre-retirement Mark McGwire and then is seen wearing brown suits and mock turtlenecks!

A white male to save the Democratic Party from a most "experienced" white female and a most inspiring "clean" (Biden's word, not mine) black. How politically incorrect can they get?
