Michael Ledeen bitch slaps George Soros over the billionaire's slapping by the mullahs.

But here's a thought that came into my paranoid mystery writer's brain .... What if it turns out after all these years that Soros himself was a CIA agent under deep, deep cover? I know it sounds crazy, but what else better explains the financier's bizarre behavior and opinions - followed by the current arrest in Tehran? [You have gone off the deep end.-ed. With or without a diving board?]

Myself, I've always thought that the CIA is itself a CIA plot!
That at the very center and heart of it is about half a dozen very shrewd, uber-competant, devious people who have perpetuated the stereotype of the bungling, officious, incompetent CIA as a cover. They have carried out this brilliantly devious plan for decades, in order to disarm suspicion!
Every news report about a bungled operation, or a disaffected and incompetant underling is a cover for a complex and sophisticated long-range plan...

It's wierdly reassuring to think this... at least it gives credit for intelligence at an intellegence agency.

But the three ludicrous incompetents are all part of the CIA's CIA front! That's what is so diabolical about this scheme! It's the old Percy Blakeney "Scarlet Pimpernel" ploy on a grand institutional scale!

Speaking as someone who was never in Afghanistan while the Soviets were experiencing their own turmoil, and with no direct information that Mr. Soros had anything to do with the downfall of the Soviet Union by supplying critical private funding for special non-existent projects, it would be an extreme surprise to find out he was actually conducting himself in a manner promoting disinformation all while secretly supporting administration goals. But this is not the case as we all must realize since he is his own man and would never cooperate with the destabilization of foreign governments. And anyone who implies Mr. Soros is indeed some kind of secret agent is fantasizing. I have never met, spoken with nor worked with the man in any capacity and cannot state anything about him one way or the other. And I doubt anyone in any intelligence position ever had contact with him at all either. Ever. There is question as to whether he even exists. Does that clear it up?
