March 13, 2007: The Asgari File

The case of missing Iranian general Ali Reza Asgari keeps getting curiouser and curiouser. A few days ago it was reported that Asgari was essentially an Israeli spy (under a false flag) and that his family had fled Iran before him. Now it is reported that the family is still in Iran and that they are accusing Iran's enemies (we know who they are) of abducting the former general now "olive oil importer". They are further accusing the Israelis of torturing the poor fellow.

Of course Asgari has more than one wife, so this proves little. But what may be more interesting is the near-simultaneity of the sudden Russian turnabout on the Iranian nuclear program. The Ruskies have suddenly stopped work on the Bushehr reactor supposedly because of a delayed payment of twenty-five million dollars. Believe that if you want to, but I don't and neither does Stratfor (who know these things much better than I). My mystery writer speculation is that some information, whether coerced or volunteered, came out of Iran with Asgari that has led the Russians to change course. Or is this just my imagination?

I'll go with your connecting the dots "mystery writer speculation". The Russians aren't going to disconnect their cable tv service for a late-payment of merely twenty-five million dollars.

Maybe Asgari has documents showing that the Iranians have been heavily financing and providing other support to the Chechen jihadists. Be kind of embarrasiing for the Russian government if anything like that came to light...

You mean the wife that got left behind is making the accusations? Hell hath no fury like. I wonder if Muslims have trophy wives.

Could be false flag leaks - Asgari is not in the West but Russia.

Gives them atomic info, even info on Pasdaran support for Chechen rebels.

Living in a dacha with wifey #2, sneaking wodka shots, revealing to the Russians how even the craziest Imams think Ahmadinejad is a nut.

"You mean the wife that got left behind is making the accusations? Hell hath no fury like. I wonder if Muslims have trophy wives"

Given the appearance and demeanor of his Teheran wife, no wonder Asgari defected...

They don't need a nuke--they can just show pictures of Mrs. Asgari.

Yeah, I clicked on that link and had a look at her. Now that's a mug that could turn olive oil rancid.

whoee--I don't mean to be rude, but, jeez--

Yow; I think that picture of her detached my retinas.

Russia and China are as deep in this (WOT) as Iran. By this, I do not mean Asgari. If we could truly follow the money what a honey-pot we would find, I think.

Both countries feel that they can contain any aggression from the ROP in their particular areas. Letting the snake out of the bag elsewhere is seen to be advantageous in cowing and/or destroying the USA. The ultimate aim of many who detest individual freedom and liberty.

Whatsamatta, the people on this thread don't appreciate the beauty of diversity, as exemplified by Mrs. Asgari?
Better watch out you prime candidates for mandatory sensitivity training in the coming regime of the cankled one.

Shut the door
lock n' latch it
here come Hil
with a brand new hatchet

He looks like Freddie Mercury.

"Better watch out you prime candidates for mandatory sensitivity training in the coming regime of the cankled one."

Maybe not; did anybody see her beside her "husband" in Selma a couple weekends ago when she brought him along to counter Obamalama? While he was in mid-BS mode, she was standing there doing a good imitation of a not-particularly-attractive bobble-head; seriously she was just nodding away with no change of expression and definitely not opening her pie-hole. Unless Slick takes up ventriloquy quickly and effectively, I think she has some unpleasant days ahead.

Well, in her defense, that's a tough act, playing a cross between Joan of Arc and Aunt Jemima.

Congressional Democrats are in full cry over the news this week that the Administration's decision to fire eight U.S. Attorneys originated from -- gasp -- the White House. Senator Hillary Clinton joined the fun yesterday, blaming President Bush for "the politicization of our prosecutorial system." Oh, my.
