January 24, 2007: Cryin' Time Again

kerry.jpg

Who was John Kerry crying for on the Senate floor as he announced he will not run for the Presidency? John Edwards said he knew the decision was a difficult one for Kerry "because we know his first instinct is always to respond to any call to serve his country." Oh, pul-leeze. The call to "serve one's country" is one of the great canards of our time. Kerry was crying for one person only - himself. He was crying for the failure of his ambitions. The rest of us are immaterial.

More on the Braggart Soldier here.

Good riddance to Kerry, the contemporary Milos Gloriosus, as vain, pompous and self regarding as any braggert soldier and politician that ever was, and to his weird vulpine ketchup-fortune wife. And as for John Edwards, his first instinct to mouth any platitude or cheap piety that might advance his case.

Amen. In an age of rampant narcissism, John Kerry is a standout, even in a world class field of narcissistic politicians. According to former Yale classmates recounting tales of Kerry's massive sense of self-importance (Trudeau even satirized it in the then-nascent Doonesbury strip in the campus paper,) Kerry has always had one deep conviction: that he is uniquely gifted and destined for high purpose. Years of tales of pulling DYKWIAs on any of the Great Unwashed he might find underfoot, the insufferable pomposity of his rhetoric, going back to his infamous Senate testimony about Viet Nam, to his nakedly craven, poll-generated hourly "position" changes, "explained" as impossibly nuanced and complex Deep Thoughts us plebes (with the help of the Republican Attack Machine) couldn't possibly grasp, causing constant "misunderstanding." He probably actually believes that.

Ironically, everyone sees through him but...him. Even the Dems see through him (how could even they not?) He was nominated under the "greater fool" theory of "electibility (I think he's an idiot, but maybe the greater fools among the electorate will buy his baloney.) They didn't actually like him either. No significant accomplishments, original ideas or even integrity over the years. The ultimate empty suit, comic in his profound sense of self-importance and blindness to his bland mediocrity. Even he must now face his irrelevance, as he is consigend to the ash heap of political history.

I'm actually sorry the flip-flopping hypocrite isn't running. Watching his humiliation would be entertaining. (You're vicious and petty! In some cases, yes. And it feels good.)

Now, now...all he wanted was a cookie.

I wonder whether Hillary's hit squad dug up something (like the Navy records he never got around to releasing) that he would prefer to keep under his magic Cambodian hat.

Kerry reminds me of the phrase "often wrong, but never in doubt." Actually, he was essentially always wrong and completely unaware. Good riddance indeed.

While he will ultimately drift into the dust bin of history, we have more pressing matters to deal on hand.

Our country is at a cross-roads. The USA is being attacked from outside by the Islamists, the Chinese are positioning themselves (economically, militarily - including space, and geo-politically) and people like Chavez.

From the inside, we are destroying ourselves via moral relativism (even evil isn't evil anymore), self-doubt and a lack of understanding the history of America and the price of freedom. Much of America is soft and our enemies are hard.

We need a President who can revive the vision of America like Ronald Regan did. Freedom, personal responsibility, the pursuit of the American dream are among the themes we need to hear and pursue. Policy must support those ideals versus a headlong rush to have a bigger government "solve" our problems. That is the last thing the Founders would have wanted.

It's time for America to wake up.

Conn Yank: I actually feel for anyone running against the screecher. Hell, hath no fury as a biatch running for President. I predict one of the dirtiest Dem runs yet.

Barrett: You say it very eloquently. And quite frankly I'm on the low side of optimism. Like you, I hope that America wakes up before it's too late.

Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna leave me
I can see that far away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way you hold me darlin'
That it won't be long before it's cryin' time.
Now, they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder
And that tears are only rain to make love grow
Well, my love for you could never be stronger
If I lived to be a hundred years old.
Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna leave me
I can see that far away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way you hold me darlin'
That it won't be long before it's cryin' time.
Now you say you've found someone that you love better
That's the way it's happened every time before
And as sure as the sun comes up tomorrow
Cryin' time will start when you walk out the door.
Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna leave me
I can see that far away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way you hold me darlin'
That it won't be long before it's cryin' time.
Yea, it won't be long before it's cryin' ti

I think it is still a disgrace that that S.O.B came so close to winning. Even taking political loyalty and the advantage of an overwhelmingly liberal media into account, for a man with his Vietnam Era history to draw 48% of the vote is nauseating.

Didn't the tears commence when he said "returned from Vietnam"? Four months of blowing up sampans, running your boat aground, shooting naked, fleeing Vietnamese boys in the back, and fragging your own ass is tear-inducing, indeed. We were all safer when he came home. I cry whenever I think of Kerry IN Vietnam.

I'm sorry to see him out of the race too, for one simple reason.

Never have I seen someone with so much political experience make so many (as he would say) faux pas. I was looking foward to more of those.

Unless somebody pries Hilary out of her dull dolly package, the French candidate will be swiftly missed.

I still say Bush should pardon Kerry for his Winter Soldier self-confessed war crimes.

It would've been a great campaign tactic in 2004, when I first suggested it, and it would still serve to throw some light on this pompous hypocrite.

Terrye:
My wife's music publishing company owns 33 pct of that song. Usually, she loves the money but in this case it is very apt.

/by the she really does

The scarey part is that he almost beat Bush and some liberals still think he's a war hero. Yipes.

"The call to 'serve one's country' is one of the great canards of our time."

Not only of our time, but....So, John F. Kerry is out.

Tears will also be shed in Tehran, Hanoi, Caracas, Damascus, Moscow, Managua, and certain offices in Beijing.

...oh, and Pyongyang.

...and the drawing rooms and conservatories on Beacon Hill.

...and among some recently-retired, and soon-to-be retired, public servants in Canada, Germany, Spain, and France.

Now that's hard to beat, Buddy.

..and the desks of political satire writers.

...and those of us that need some humor with our politics.

Kerry's not crying. He's just playing La Marsellaise with his nose.

Of all the descriptions that summarize my thoughts on Kerry, freetotem utterly nails it. Kerry is simply an insufferable, elite snob totally out of touch with the average American.

He loathes us.

The only reason he got the support he did from rank and file Democrats is because of BDS. Their hatred of Bush was their priority, not the quality of their candidate. I'm glad this asshat is gone so I won't have to listen to his nasely, whiney voice anymore.

Oh, he dunnit again, just this morning in Switzerland, before the reporters of the world.

Catch the little acting job, the little stumble set-up, which released the words 'international pariah'.

Just conversation, y'see--nothing planned or anything.

Jeez, what a complete, utter, utter fraud.

What a despicable person is Kerry. Freetotem does nail him most adroitly. I have too add that the word 'traitor' was running through my mind as I watched that video Buddy linked. The thing is, there are many in this country who will applaud both what he said and where he said it. That is the true tragedy.
