Roger L. Simon: Too Much of a Not So Good Thing

Sometimes I fear the rampant PCism all around us could end up in an American Cultural Revolution with all of us in dunce caps for not calling fat people "calorically challenged" or some such. But with ShrinkWrapped's kids guarding the gates from this nonsense, I feel a little more secure.

Could we please drop this judgemental and pejorative term "PC" already? Can't we find a more generative, affirmative label, if we must label? Something that would honor the truth in all our lexicons, like "differently dictionaried"?

And thanks for the link to ShrinkWrapped's blog, I really enjoyed the perspective.

Humor is the only response to the PC imbecilism. Two of my favorites: White people are now "persons of pallor," and drunks/dopers are "people of stupor."

Though I know humor and ridicule are the best weapons, I'm really angry right now. I'm itching for blowback on a wide scale, a counter-movement to show these buffoons for what they are: shallow busy bodies who make all the rules and want to control you from cradle to grave by manipulating your thoughts.

Can't have a war on terror, but a war on cheeseburgers shows the moral heights to which western civilization has climbed? Give me a break.

The Patriot Act? peanuts compared to the freedoms I've lost that affect every waking moment of my life. Because of PC I'm afraid to complain that there are no smoking sections in restaurants, as if I've been to a restaurant in the last decade because taxes on cigarettes are a major hardship for me.

And what are those taxes used for? They're not being used to study physical addiction, that's for sure.

I'm fully expecting taxes at some point on fast foods or at the least on 'unhealthy' foods such as butter (I only consume REAL butter, though very little of it.)

Even here I watch what I say, how I say it, always in the back of my mind is fear of offense. As if everyone else is a little child who can't deal with a bully because they've been coddled in our overly PC school environment and have to have their self-esteem above everything else. It's okay not to study, not to learn, not to work hard at getting ahead because you love yourself and are a good person and that's all that counts.

Dammit, people should learn that they've got good qualities and bad ones and life is always a struggle between the two.

We should have little interest in trying to converting them. Our number one goal should be focussed on how best to marginalize them. How can we cut off their funds? Are you truly upset at PBS? Well, the House of Representatives has voted to continue spending 100 million dollar annually of your tax dollars. Why not contact your US Senators and put a stop to this nonsense?

Money speaks---and bovine excrement walks. Cut off their supply lines. The politically correct establishment takes for granted its six figure incomes. What can you do to put them on the unemployment line?

Congratulations on your book, Richard! It looks really fun in a guy sort of way and so am ordering a few copies for some smart though still visible dirty old men I know and love. One for me, too, strictly for the PC satire, of course--

Only one copy available each of Richard Mc's The I.D.O.M. and Brinke of Destruction. I shall read them and pass them on to friends with my gloves on. These days standards for handling the good books are pretty high.

ShrinkWrapped's young kids argued their case for Cookie Monster more articulately than some/many? law school students might do. Their letter is outstanding! Still, they should know that "c" is for "c".

C -- that's a flaw of the Amazon inventory system. There are plenty available...

Richard, I had wanted a few more copies of The Invisible Dirty Old Man, but only one gently and lovingly pre-owned book was offered for purchase. Maybe Amazon just couldn't see Invisible on their inventory lists-- I'll write them a note and suggest they feel around a bit.

C — They're not pre-owned. This is never-released stock I obtained when the original company dissolved. It's the only edition available.

Oh gosh, now that I actually read the order description beyond "like new" and "collectible" condition, I see where you say that it's a never released 1st printing.
